What, Why, Who, etc.,
A combination of 2020 summer lockdown and lots of video calls between Maria and Kyra. Mostly, Kyra talked at Maria about non-anglophone poetry. Lots of discussion about the potential of hearing poetry in translation. A lot of ‘what is sound art is that what we’re doing?’
Mostly : we wanted to make a podcast about translated poetry, because poetic appreciation is so very anglo-centric, and there are so many beautiful poems written in so many different languages from all over the world.

from that field between Manchester and Leeds, England. loves sound and words but is not very visual. St. Andrews undergrad in French and Spanish. 19th century french poetry and the Latin American Boom are her favourite things. is of the strong opinion that poetry should be heard, spoken, talked about most of the time. likes to make noises.
Maria Goikhberg
from a different field slightly outside of Toronto. Growing up in a Russian household, she loved seeing how different turns of sentences or expressions translate, and how different things are prioritized in poetry of different languages. Studies History and English at St Andrews, and like any basic poetry lover enjoys e.e. cummings and T.S. Eliot, and has an intense interest in any folk/fantasy in literature.
